Team Rayceen is pleased to announce that the Human Rights Campaign will be the co-presenting sponsor of The Ask Rayceen Show in 2017, which will take place monthly in Washington, DC, at the HRC Equality Center, 1640 Rhode Island Avenue NW.
The Ask Rayceen Show is a monthly community festival and live entertainment event hosted by the iconic
Rayceen Pendarvis, a longtime activist, emcee, entertainer, 2016 Capital Pride Heroes Award recipient, and lifelong Washingtonian.
The exciting new season of The Ask Rayceen Show will begin March 1, 2017. Shows occur March through November on the first Wednesday of the month, with the exceptions of May and November, when the show is scheduled for the second Wednesday of those months. Dates are as follows: March 1, April 5, May 10, June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4, and November 8. Annual events include a mini-ball in April, a poetry slam in August, and a talent competition in October. Doors will open at 6pm and the show will begin at 7. All are welcome and admission is free.
We are also pleased to announce that there will be a cash bar sponsored by Reel Affirmations International LGBTQ Film Festival and @DCHomos. Free food will be available to attendees, thanks to catering sponsored by AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Additional sponsors include Spunk Lube, The Raben Group, Clarke Photo Studios and the Al Sura Foundation. A limited number of gift bags will be distributed to attendees at each show; gift bag contributor information will be posted online, along with information about raffle prizes and exhibitors.
Our March 1, 2017 show will feature a game show segment with local newlyweds, music by DJ Honey, plus singer Nia Simmons and burlesque entertainer Glam Gamz are scheduled to perform.

Team Rayceen is pleased to announce their new event, in collaboration with sponsor Q Virginia by Unite Virginia – Virginia’s LGBTQ Media Company™ – on May 6, the closing night of Artomatic 2017 in Crystal City.
Team Rayceen and UNITE Virginia present The Artomatic 2017 Finalé starring Rayceen Pendarvis will take place on Stage #5 on the fifth floor of 1800 South Bell Street, Arlington, VA. Opening acts will begin at 7pm and the show will begin at 8pm. The show will be followed by Rayceen’s Dance Party at 10pm. Artomatic’s Saturday hours are noon to midnight. All are welcome and admission is free.
There will be live music and more. Scheduled performers include Nia Simmons, Quineice, Khadijah Moon, Starranko, Jeremiah Welch, Rae Monet, Peace Jah and Aflocentric. Rayceen will be joined by co-hosts Curt Mariah, Tim Trueheart, and Krylios Clarke. The opening acts showcase will be hosted by Curt Mariah and Tim Trueheart, who will also perform stand-up comedy. The DJ for the evening will be Joe Audio.
Attendees are encouraged to bring money to tip performers and purchase food and beverages, including beer and wine for those ages 21 and over. Artomatic 2017 is located near the Crystal City Metro (Blue and Yellow lines). Attendees can enter 1800 South Bell Street via the Crystal City Shops (formerly known as Crystal City Underground); elevators are located down the hall from the Synetic Theater. For those who are driving, garage and street parking is free after 4pm on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team Rayceen is pleased to announce our exciting lineup for our Summer shows on June 7, July 5, and August 2.
The Ask Rayceen Show on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, will feature our Standup Comedy Showcase with comedians Curt Mariah, Anthony Oakes, and Violet Gray. There will also be live music by recording artist Durell Arthur, a fashion show by The XFaKtor Productions, and burlesque by Bella La Blanc. Our guest DJ will be DJ Suspence.
The Ask Rayceen Show on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, will feature improv comedy by The Improv Imps, a performance by Young Playwrights’ Theater, and swing dancing by The Jam Cellar. There will also be live music by recording artist Starranko (a 2014 finalist in the Annual #AskRayceen Talent Competition) and burlesque by Hell O’Kitty. Our guest DJ will be DJ Honey.
The Ask Rayceen Show on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, will feature our Annual #AskRayceen Poetry Slam. The
audience favorite will receive $100 (Eligibility rules are posted online). There will also be live music by recording artist Quineice and burlesque by Brooke Jay. Our guest DJ will be DJ Kryptk.

The Ask Rayceen Show on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, will feature Print, Radio, TV, Internet: The Media in DC Panel, live music by singer Shellie Ferguson, and belly dancing by Asala. Our guest DJ will be DJ Jay Jay.
The Ask Rayceen Show on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, will feature the Annual #AskRayceen Talent Competition, with cash prizes awarded to the audience’s top 3 favorite acts. The top 3 winners will receive $300, $200, and $100, respectively. Our guest DJ will be DJ MIM.
The Ask Rayceen Show on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 is our Sexy AF Season Finalé, which will feature performances by Pretty Boi Drag, Private Tails, Pussy Noir, Midori Minx, and singer Billy Winn. There will also be a segment with gift ideas from featured vendor Comfort Zone. Our guest DJ will be DJ Honey.
